Happy new year, Philadelphia! This year, we want to start 2018 strong with some insight on how to set attainable work-out goals over the next 12 months in Center City.

Goal-setting the most important components of all successful training and nutrition programs. It’s important to set short-term goals that are within reach to reach a long-term goal. However, it’s important to have a solid plan in order to achieve even the smallest of your fitness goals.

Someone might say, “I want to look better and lose weight.” Unfortunately, there is not an actionable goal in that sentence. These vague types of goals tend to have the lowest chance of success. It’s impossible to know if or when you’ve achieved them. As a result, you are likely to get discouraged and lose interest, and that’s the ultimate failure.

Want to know the best approach? Set smart goals is to choose ones that are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound.

For example, rather than simply saying “I want to lose weight,” attach a specific number to it. Get creative with a personal timeline. Conversely, “I want to lose five pounds in 35 days” is a more informed and specific goal.

To take it a step even further, set a specific lifestyle habit to achieve this goal. For instance, try saying this out loud to yourself: “I will exercise three days a week and eat three balanced meals for the next five weeks.”

Additionally, if you work in Center City but live outside of it, you’ll probably want to go to a gym regularly near where you work. Part of setting a smart goal is figuring out the logistics of how to execute your goals. If you want to go to the gym a certain amount of days per week, having a gym close to your office really enables you to achieve those goals.

You can see how these goals can be more effective than the former. They require specific instructions for you to follow. They require a timeline, which allows you to measure your progress throughout the entire year.

Not everyone will have the same goals. Understand where you are in your fitness journey and what steps you need to get where you want to be. Drop by CrossFit University City to kickstart your 2018 fitness plan in Philadelphia today! Chances are, we’re not far from your office in Center City anyway.
